Overview

Our mission is to provide young people with the tools, skills and confidence they need to realize their full potential in their careers, education and communities.

Through various program models, Youth in Motion strives to motivate and empower all youth across all youth populations to realize and reach their potential by finding a career that they love.  People who enjoy their work are typically happy, productive, successful and fulfilled.  The  average Canadian spends about 15,000 hours in the formal education system – and about 70,000 hours working over the course of their life!  That is a lot of time to NOT be doing something you love! Through mentoring programs, career learning days and workshops models, our organization connects youth to people in the world of work who enjoy what they do.  Youth are able to learn, first hand through dialogue with role models, about what it takes to be successful in the Canadian workforce – and ultimately, what it takes to be happy and fulfilled in life.

YIM also encourages youth to develop skills by volunteering and getting involved in their communities.  There are many great causes in Canada and if everyone contributes and gets involved, Canada will become a stronger and better place to live.  Along the way, youth develop skills, meet other community minded people with good values … and often make connections into the world of work!  Everyone wins!

Each year, we also give financial awards to deserving youth to support them in their efforts to continue their education or develop leadership skills.  Any youth under 20 in Canada can apply via our national Top 20 Under 20 award.  Youth with employment barriers who are program participants in our Opportunities Unlimited or Steering Your Career programs can also apply for financial bursaries.
