Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in sharing your time and talents with Youth in Motion! We have a variety of volunteer roles with different levels of commitment and hope that you will find the right match for you.

Mentoring

There are numerous ways to get involved. Our main and often most rewarding opportunity is mentoring a young person.

Opportunities Unlimited™:  This is a 6-7 month volunteer commitment.

With each program cycle we require 12-15 female mentors to support our female program participants as they enhance their employability skills, learn on the job during a paid work placement and attend monthly skills development workshops. Learn more about Opportunities Unlimited.

If you are interested in truly making a difference in a young woman’s life as a mentor in this program, please contact:

Top 20 Under 20™ Award Program: This is a 10-12 month volunteer commitment.

Annually we recognize and celebrate 20 exceptional youth for their innovation, leadership and achievement.  As part of a year-long program, each award recipient is paired with a mentor to help guide them as they move through the next leg of their leadership journey.  While award winners are from all across Canada, we do make every effort to find a mentor match within the same geographic area. The majority of the mentorship is conducted via phone or email.

Career Learning Day Program: This is a 1 day volunteer commitment.

Annually we offer a few Career Learning Days to junior and high school students. Career Learning Days are an interactive one-day workshop aimed at junior and/or high school students.  Each Career Learning Day focuses on a different career sector, offering students the opportunity to explore career possibilities in conversation with real business people from the sector.

For each event, we look for 20-30 volunteer business professionals to serve as Career Role Models for the day.  We recruit Career Role Models from the specific work sectors that we are profiling at each particular Career Learning Day event. Career Role Models share their career path story and interact with youth through the workshop in a structured and supported manner.
