Opportunities Unlimited LogoEmployability Skills Training, Mentoring & Work Placement for young women with barriers to employment (MORE)

Opportunities Unlimited™ is an innovative mentoring and internship program for young women under the age of 30 with employment barriers.  The program runs twice a year, with 15 young women experiencing four weeks of full -time, paid training. This in-class instruction teaches key employability skills. Upon completion of the training period, 12 of the most motivated women move on to the next phase, a six month paid work placement.  During this employment phase, each participant is paired with a mentor who helps her cultivate her self-confidence and prepare to join the workforce.

Program participants must be female and under the age of 30; not working or going to school; and not in receipt of EI in the last two years; and must be one of the following: a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, landed immigrant or granted Refugee Status in Canada.

This program boasts an impressive success rate of at least 84%, with some sessions reaching 100%.  Success is achieved when participants obtain full time work or admission to full-time education or training within three months of program completion.

 World Changing Careers

A Career Learning Day: Choose a GREEN career to Make the World a Better Place! (MORE)

Organized by Youth in Motion in partnership with Changing Climates Educational Society. This initiative in Calgary and  Toronto will address the lack of awareness of many high school students of the ways that their career can shape a sustainable future and an exploration of the many ‘green’ careers available both now and in the future. Many students are unaware of both learning and work opportunities available to them in this diverse and exciting career field. Educators will benefit from exposure to this knowledge to assist their students to think about their careers differently.
