Youth in Motion Calgary
We are pleased to announce we have completed the first phase of the New Horizons Mentoring program. We have been working with almost 40 mentees providing them with individual coaching and mentoring to prepare them for the next phase of the program – the mentoring experience. Many of our mentees have participated in the Workplace Essential Skills program conducted by ESL4Work. We would like to thank The Calgary Foundation, RBC Foundation, Calgary Learns and TransCanada for supporting this project.
The second phase of this program matches immigrant ‘mentees’ with employed ‘mentors’ to provide support over a structured four month period. The new program runs from January 2009 to April 2009.We are offering 2 programs during this time – a morning and an evening program to accommodate schedules. New Horizons Mentoring Program features a series of workshops on job search and Canadian workplace culture. We are pleased to announce our new space partners for the morning and evening programs are TransCanada and McDougall Centre.
We are presently looking for mentors that would like to share their knowledge and support with professional immigrant women and men. Training for both mentees and mentors will be provided free of charge by Youth in Motion. Click here for success stories.
We are also looking for funders that would be interested in helping us provide this experience to motivated, professional immigrants as they strive to overcome the inherent challenges of transitioning into a new life in Canada.
