Mayor Marolyn Morrison
November 2003, Marolyn was elected as Mayor of the Town of Caledon.
In 1994, Marolyn was elected as Regional Councillor representing Ward 2 of Caledon. The following election (1997) she was acclaimed Regional Councillor for Ward 2 of Caledon. In 2000, she was re-elected as Regional Councillor for Ward 2 of Caledon. From 1988 to 1994, Marolyn was elected two consecutive terms as Trustee with the Peel Board of Education, representing Caledon. She served as Vice-Chair of the Board for the last two years of her second term.

Marolyn was appointed to the, Ontario Advisory Working Group on Road Safety/Safe Roads, by the Minister of Transportation, to advise the Minister on Highway Traffic Act Changes and Road Safety Issues. There were 21 people from across the Province that served on this Committee.
In November 2002, Marolyn accepted the position as Co-Chair of the Ontario Provincial Police Greater Toronto Region Highway Safety and Education Committee. The committee, through partnerships, identified road safety issues, developed and implemented strategies to reduce the number of collisions, injuries and deaths on the highways in the Greater Toronto Region.
AWARDS:
- Ontario Provincial Police Commissioners Citation received in 2000 for Outstanding Community Contribution in promoting road safety throughout the Province of Ontario with the ROAD WATCH program.
- Ontario Crime Control Commission Award of Excellence received in 2002 for outstanding contribution to road safety.
- Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal received in 2003 for contributions to road safety throughout the Province of Ontario by helping communities start the ROAD WATCH program.
- Received an Award of Appreciation in 2002 for valuable contributions to improving housing opportunities for older adults in Peel Region.
- Received a Citizen Award from the City of Brampton in 2003 for volunteer contributions on the Chinguacousy Health Services Board.
In March 2004, Marolyn founded the Greater Toronto Countryside Mayor’s Alliance (GTCMA), consisting of 14 municipalities, who have been working with the Province on issues that directly affect their region, such as the proposed greenbelt legislation.
During the drought crisis in Western Canada 2002, Marolyn assisted in the Hay West program. As a Regional Councillor, Marolyn often acted as a liaison between the Region of Peel and the Peel Federation of Agriculture. She was the founding member of the Peel Agriculture Advisory Working Group for the Region of Peel. She has even competed in the Peel-Dufferin Plowing Match.
As founder and Past Chair of ROAD WATCH CANADA and ROAD WATCH ONTARIO, both non-profit Corporations, Marolyn actively gets out her message of targeting dangerous aggressive driving through Awareness, Education and Enforcement.
As Mayor, Marolyn is excited about her opportunity to create a shared vision within the Town of Caledon. She believes that by working together with residents, local businesses and community groups, we can make Caledon shine among Ontario’s municipalities.
Caledon has been designated the “Greenest Town in Ontario” and has been given the title of the “Safest Municipality in Canada” two years in a row.
Marolyn has resided in the Town of Caledon for 28 years.
